Poetry Contests: Not a Spectator Sport

Posted by:

Wordclay Team

We're excited to kick-off our first-ever poetry contests! We're currently accepting entries for the Single Poem and Book of Poetry contests, so take a look at the contest details and submit your poems. If you write poetry, there's no reason why you shouldn't enter; you've got nothing to lose, there are no entry fees or purchases required of any kind, plus, if you win, you win big. (Have you seen the prizes yet?!)

We wish you the best of luck in the poetry contest and hope you enjoy the friendly competition!

Also, on a totally different topic: we've started Wordclay Writer's Group on Facebook. It's just a way that Wordclay writers can connect, trade writing tips, advice or whatever. Join in to get to know other writers using Wordclay.

The holidays always seem to sneak up, don't they? Before you know it, you're scrambling at the last minute to pull everything together. Of course, you promise yourself (just like every year) that next year you'll plan ahead.

Well, we want to remind you there is no better time than the present to get started this year. And what makes a more perfect gift than a book? Make sure to place your order early so you'll receive books with plenty of time to spare. Chat with us today to order your own book with your author discount, or order additional Wordclay titles through the Bookstore.

Good luck in this hectic pre-holiday time. Just keep writing!

(Do you have a unique holiday shopping story? Tell your shopping battle tales, early morning road trips and "perfect gift" quests in your own published book.)

Carve a Spot in our Bookstore with Your Story

Deep down in all of us, there's a child at heart that never really grew up. So on Halloween, many of us just love to play. We dress up, eat candy and of course, tell spooky stories. Whether they are believed to be true or not, it is an interesting cultural phenomenon that scary stories are told and enjoyed. Some tales are now even considered classics, like Bram Stoker's Dracula, available through our Bookstore.

Maybe you have a spooky local or personal story of your own? Why not share it by publishing your own scary tale tonight … if you dare! Happy Halloween!

9.27.07 Congratulations Wordclay Authors!

Welcome back to the Book Blog. Congratulations and thank you to all of our authors who have joined the Wordclay DIY self-publishing community.

Today, we'd like to feature a few of our newly released titles – available now through the bookstore. Congrats to Ashley Qualls, the first author to self-publish through Wordclay! Her book, The Knee Slappin' Tales of Hillbilly Junebug and Dapper Dan Cockroach, can naturally be found in the "Humor" section.

The Train To The Heart Of Manning, a novel full of action, adventure and romance was another of our first books published by Joe Waldrup. Author Laura Cox's novel, a mix of both horror and romance called, Ma Cherie: Are you Missing Me?, was another publishing pioneer, putting our DIY self-publishing wizard to the test. Congratulations to you both!

We value your input to help make our Web site the best possible DIY self-publishing tool. Please keep the questions, comments and ideas flowing. We'll be rolling out updates to our site on a regular basis, so keep in touch and keep publishing!

Support DIY self-published authors by buying their books here or at Amazon.

This day could not have arrived sooner ... we're so excited about the progress we've made to help authors more easily create, distribute and promote their books. It's been a long journey, more than a year, in fact, since we started on the path of creating a state-of-the art publishing solution designed to put authors in control over their publishing experience.

We're excited to hear your feedback about all aspects of the Wordclay Web site. Please feel free to contact us with your comments and suggestions.

(Yes, we know this is a book blog. We'll highlight the very first book that comes through the publishing wizard in the next post.)
